Tamar Kisilevitz, AIA, ARA Senior Associate
Tamar Kisilevitz, AIA, ARA has been a leader in diversifying Scarano Architect PLLC s body of work into new building types. With thirteen years of design and management experience, Tamar focuses on the planning, design, and development of office, mixed-use, and high rise buildings. She has senior responsibilities in all aspects of residential, commercial and mixed-use architecture, including business development, management, and design. She has been instrumental in setting up the firm s operations in the iconic DUMBO, Brooklyn office. Her focus has been on new construction and complex rehabilitation projects for private sector clients. Tamar s award-winning completed projects include the trendy sixteen story Bowery Hotel in NoHo, NYC; the Toy Factory Lofts, the first loft conversion project following the comprehensive Downtown Brooklyn Rezoning Initiative; the decontamination and adaptation of oil storage silos into gallery spaces along Brooklyn s Gowanus Canal; and EVRY condominium in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Tamar s expertise in the design of hotels has led the firm s growing activities in this sector in New York City. A graduate of the Pratt Institute School of Architecture with a B.Arch and minor in Historic Preservation, Tamar is licensed in the State of New York. She is the recipient of the 2002 Alpha Rho Chi Bronze Medal for Professional Leadership and Accomplishment.
Ilana Kushnir Senior Project Manager/Designer
A senior project manager at Scarano Architect PLLC, Ilana Kushnir joined Scarano Architect PLLC in 2002. She is a leader in advanced residential building and hospitality design. With twelve years of project experience, Ilana brings her management skills and design expertise to every project to create successful, efficient building layouts that maximize investor's returns on their investments and create unique, desirable living spaces for their buyers.
Yuriy Menzak Project Manager/ Designer
Since joining Scarano Architect PLLC in 2005, Yuriy’s work has encompassed a broad spectrum of private sector projects. As one of the firm’s project managers, his recent focus has been on large-scale mixed-use programs and residential developments in New York City.
Albert Faks Project Manager/Designer
Albert joined Scarano Architect, PLLC in September, 2006. He has since been managing small addition and alteration projects, and assisting project managers with the design and construction documents for multi family residential developments.
Albert holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Pratt Institute School of Architecture in Brooklyn, where he was born and raised.
Maria Clara Freitas Designer, Architectural Project Assistant
Maria Clara joined Scarano Architect PLLC in January 2011 as an Architectural Project Manager’s Assistant. She is currently involved in the major adaptive reuse and conversion of two buildings in Brooklyn’s DUMBO Historic District into unique custom luxury residential developments.
Sam Shneyer Architectural Intern, BIM Specialist
Sam joined Scarano Architect PLLC in 2011 and has already brought in new ideas and a systematic approach to the automation of computerized project management. Sam’s proficiency in design through Revit is leading our firm's technological transformation forward, facilitating a more transparent and comprehensive project coordination and design process for our building projects. Specializing in BIM modeling, Sam has worked on redesigning several Landmark buildings. He is currently using one of our construction projects to model a building prototype that will achieve both the platinum LEED rating and Passive House certification.
Sam is currently pursuing his architectural degree at the Pratt Institute School of Architecture in Brooklyn, where he maintains an honor roll status and has received multiple scholarships for his excellence.
Jonathan Imani Designer
Jonathan joined Scarano Architect, PLLC in June of 2010, and is involved in developing residential and mixed use projects. Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Technology from New York City College of Technology, Jonathan is particularly interested in design, sustainable developments and systems. His experience includes freelance rendering for both individuals and competitions, including Sukkah City Design Competition, D3 Housing Tomorrow Competition and Designing the Fair of the Future competition.
Svetlana Khazanovich Administrative Assistant
Lana has been a Senior Secretary at Scarano Architect, PLLC since February 1998. She works directly with Mr. Scarano, and assists staff in compiling all necessary documents and paperwork for project filing and legal issues.
In 1989, Lana graduated from the Financial Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia, as a Certified Bookkeeper and holds a Bookkeeping Certificate from the Professional Business Institute in New York.
Her experience includes the Jewish Community Council of Greater New York and Coney Island and the Mutual Housing Association if New York in Brooklyn. She is fluent in English and Russian.
Denise Seargent Payroll/Benefits Administrator
Denise began working with Robert Scarano in 1995 as office manager for the, at that time, small firm.
She created the Scarano Architect, PLLC database system through QuickBooks and continues to manage payroll and accounts payable, although she has moved on to establish her own financial services business.
As Payroll Administrator, Denise maintains payroll records & files, processes bi-weekly payroll using the Paycheck Payroll system, and as Benefits Administrator, administers employee benefits and tracks employee attendance.
Her experience includes Absolutely Professional Temps., and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York.
Elzbieta Gutowski Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Administrator
Liz joined Scarano Architect, PLLC in 1999. She prepares, processes, verifies and maintains the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, as well as other related financial areas.
Her primary responsibliities include timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, answering A/R and A/P inquiries, reviewing statements for accuracy, following up on discrepancies and maintaining vendor files.
She is also responsible for invoicing, bank reconcilliation and preparation of financial statements.
Liz studied bookkeeping, business management and accounting at The New York Institute of Business Technology.
Barbara Lewocha Bookkeeper
Barbara joined Scarano Architect, PLLC as a part time accounts clerk and became a full time bookkeeper in 2004.
Ellen S. Rantzer Human Resources/Office Manager
Ellen joined Scarano Architect, PLLC in 2004.
Although architecture is a new field for her, Ellen has 20+ years of experience in both H.R. & Office Management.
Working with such diverse companies as Warnaco Group and The Supporting Cast, Ellen developed office policies and procedures, working one-on-one with staff as needed. Her attention to detail has served us well, particularly during our immense growth over the last year.
Jessica Renta Administrative Assistant
Jessica joined Scarano Architect, PLLC in 2008. As a receptionist, she provides essential support systems to the Architects and Project managers, handling all ingoing and outgoing communications and assisting clients with inquiries.
Jessica graduated from Southern College in Orlando, Florida in 1998 with an AS degree in Business Management. Additionally, she graduated from Americare School of Nursing in Orlando, Florida in 2000 with a certificate of completion in the Basic X-ray technician program.
Her previous experience includes warranty administration for the Avis-Budget Group.
